Mission Trip to Honduras
October 16-23
We want you to know about a mission trip opportunity the week of October 16 – 23, 2010, designed for first timers / inquirers who may be curious about taking a mission trip with Honduras Outreach as well as for veteran travelers.
The team is being led by Keith Willing, who has traveled many times with his church in the Atlanta area. He is building a team of newcomers and veterans alike and all comers are welcome. He wants to use this trip as an opportunity to introduce Rancho el Paraiso to “inquirers” and to enable veterans who didn’t have the chance to travel in 2010 to get to the Valley this year.
The trip will be HOI’s traditional itinerary, arriving and departing on Saturdays, village work (construction, Children’s Bible School) Monday through Thursday, relaxing and reflecting on the porch in the evening.
If you or anyone in your church or circle of acquaintances is interested, please contact Emily Grossman at 404-327-5770 and she will put you and Keith in touch. In-country fee is $720 for the week; airfare is on your own.

September Mission Focus: United Methodist Children's Home
The Work Day Offering for the Children’s Home is taken once each year by the churches of the North Georgia Conference to provide a significant portion of the operating income of the Children’s Home. This year the offering will be taken on Sept. 19th. The children’s home exists to provide redemptive healing services that bring meaningful change to the lives of children and families, ground by scripture and the tradition of the church. It is a valuable ministry that works right here in our local community. Please give as you are able.
New Devo's Study: Bad Girls of the Bible
The women’s devotional group, affectionately known as Devo’s, will begin a new study this month. The group will discuss Liz Curtis Higgs’ book, Bad Girls of the Bible. Devo’s is a small group open to all women in the church. The group meets in the homes of the participants. If you are interested or would like additional information please contact Leslie Parham at 770-921-3288.
Plan to Meet at Briarcliff?
Are you planning a committee meeting at Briarcliff or some other event that requires use of Briarcliff facilities? If so, please check with the church administrator to schedule a space for the event. Briarcliff has become a very busy place & rooms are scheduled through the church office to insure the building is used in the most efficient manner. Consideration is given to air conditioning & heating when rooms are assigned. The calendar with room assignments is posted outside the church office.
C2A Clothing Closet
A long awaited addition to the C2A ministry will become a reality very shortly. Space has been secured to house a clothing closet and thrift store on Buford Highway close to Clairmont Road in Atlanta. The store will take donations of used clothing in good condition as well as furniture & electronic items. Briarcliff members can submit items to the church over the next 30 days and store them in room 5 on the lower level of the education building. Following that, all donations can be brought directly to the store. Additional details will be forthcoming. Stay tuned for updates. Volunteers to assist with this ministry are asked to contact Jeremy Turner at 404-406-4088.
Coming This Fall
Briarcliff is celebrating its 50th anniversary this coming November. We are working up a new church directory that will include a look back as well as our hope for the future. Watch for information in the coming weeks for opportunities to “be in pictures” as we prepare this new directory.
