All Aboard for the Lord

Briarcliff United Methodist Church welcomes you our Children's Ministry. We welcome all children and their families as we open our arms with God's love. We take seriously our promise to "so order our loves after the example of Christ, that these children, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal" (United Methodist Hymnal, p.44) We provide opportunities for active exploration of the Bible within a loving, accepting environment.

Sunday School

Our Sunday mornings begin at 9:30 with Sunday School based on the lectionary. Each class explores scripture using a variety of learning styles and multiple intelligences.

• Nursery: Room 103 "the blue room": from birth to toddler
• Toddlers and Twos: Room 105 "the yellow room: approximately 15 months to 2
• Preschool: Room 107 "the purple room": ages 3 through Kindergarten
• Elementary: Room 207 "the rainbow room": 1st grade through 5th grade
  

Worship

Our children are encouraged to worship with their families. Following the Children's Moment, children may go to Children's Church where they can learn more about worship. Currently, the Elementary class is studying the worship service in preparation for participation in congregational worship. After Easter, all children in first grade or older will be expected to stay with their families for worship. Worship bags are provided for those who choose to stay in worship.

Worship Quest

Children and youth are encouraged to participate in "Worship Quest." Ask an usher for a Worship Quest card. Each Sunday a different question will be presented to help focus on different aspects of worship. After the service is over, bring the completed card to Ms. Dena (in room 107) to receive a small treat.

Rainbow Club
Learning about God's Promises

All children in Pre-K through 3rd grade are invited to join us Wednesday nights for fun and informal exploration of Bible stories. Each week we will explore a Bible story using our senses, our bodies and our minds.

The club begins at 6:00 and runs to 8:30 to accommodate the children of parents taking part in Disciple I, but children are welcome to join us at 6:00 and leave at 7:00 or 7:30. There is also time built in for older children to spend time in "Homework Haven."
