United Methodist Women

We are Vessels of Mission

Our Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church.

Membership

Membership shall be open to any woman who indicates her desire to belong and to participate in the global missions of the Church through United Methodist Women.

Prayer

Daily use of the prayer calendar, devotionals and Bible study. Sponsor a day of Prayer and Self-denial. Sponsor a prayer vigil or prayer room.

Spiritual Growth

Deepen your walk with God daily through reflection, meditation, prayer and Christian fellowship. Share your love of God with someone else. Teach, write, speak and pray.

Mission Study

Participate in the UMW Reading Program, Mission Education Events and District or Conference Spiritual Growth Retreats. Subscribe to Response and New World magazines.

Pledge to Mission

Participate in the UMW unit pledge to mission.

Provide Outreach and Nurturing

Visit the sick, the homebound, and the lonely. Feed and clothe those in need. Teach people to read. Mentor a child. Provide opportunities for hands on work projects: cleaning, home repair, personal services, transportation, childcare, food preparation, education, fellowship and random acts of kindness.

Leadership involvement

Service to your Church and your UMW unit where possible utilizing your unique talents as well as your hands. Be generous with your time. Plan, Organize, Facilitate, Coordinate and Participate.

Support Racial Justice

Learn about other cultures, races and ethnic beliefs. Extend fellowship, friendship and love to those different from you. Support legislation affecting issues such as immigration, affirmative action, low-income programs, civil rights, etc. Learn another language. Teach English.

Socially and Environmental Responsible

Participate in legislative affairs to protect God's natural resources for today and for future generations, Practice and teach good citizenship, be a good neighbor and be a steward for the planet.
