Lisa Derrick began ministry in 1989, running a night shelter for women and children and a Saturday breakfast for people without homes. From this beginning came a love of missions that has grown through the years. Lisa and her husband Mike enjoy any local mission as well as national service ventures such as Appalachian Service Project or flood relief. For years Lisa and Mike have enjoyed working in Kenya and nurturing relationships between the church in the U.S. and the church in Kenya.

Lisa loves to cook and has recently developed an interest in photography. Both Lisa and her husband enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, and backpacking in particular. Lisa loves to read and to watch movies. She relishes time with her family, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, and parents.

Lisa feels blessed to be in ministry with the people of Briarcliff UMC. When she was appointed there, she was told it was a “good match”. She feels that it is. Ministry is not only Lisa’s vocation but also her passion. Briarcliff is a passionate church, committed to the ministry of Jesus Christ and loving toward others both inside and outside the church. Lisa feels it is a joy to serve such a rare and wonderful congregation.
